Description

The Allergy Screen is a cost-effective laboratory allergy test providing you with accurate results and giving you the raised IgE reactions of 38 of the most common allergens including foods and inhalants.

Allergy Screen Test

Using the latest ELISA testing technology, this home-to-lab allergy test analyzes a small blood sample collected using the kit provided against 38 of the most common allergies including foods, dust mites, pets and pollens. The lab test analyses the blood sample against raised IgE antibodies to give you accurate results in less than 7 business days upon receipt at our laboratory.

Simple & Easy Test

A sample collection kit is mailed on purchase and should reach you within 1-3 business days. Included are instructions and everything you need to easily take the small sample required and return it to our labs.

Allergy Symptoms

If you are suffering from undiagnosed symptoms including skin rashes, migraines, itchy eyes, or vomiting then these could be signs of an allergy. This test helps you discover more about your symptoms and body fast, easily and accurately.

Our Allergy Testing Laboratories

Our state-of-the-art category 2 testing laboratory is located in our facility certified according to ISO 9001. We use the latest ELISA testing equipment and the labs are overseen by an expert and qualified team of technicians.

Why IgE For Allergies?

Raised IgE antibody levels (IgE, short for “immunoglobulin E,” is the antibody that triggers food allergy symptoms) indicate allergy symptoms. IgE reactions are usually less common than intolerances (IgG) and cause a more immediate reaction.

Your Allergy Test Results

The results are generated into an email report (PDF) and include a comprehensive explanation of the items tested, as well as whether you have allergies to those items.

This test uses the IgE in your blood sample for allergy testing, but what does that mean?

IgE antibodies are a key feature in the humoral immune response, fighting potentially dangerous antigens, which are foreign substances like bacteria, parasitic worms, and viruses which keep our body safe (1,2).

Why IgE?

IgE antibodies are associated with the activation of an inflammatory response known as an immediate (Type I or Type 1) allergy. When an IgE antibody recognises a specific potential threat antigen, it activates the release of histamine compounds following an inflammatory response (2,3). Allergies can be life threatening and we use this specific antibody to help identify those items that could potentially be the cause of your symptoms in the Allergy Screen. In this case, the lab team at Test Your Intolerance will specifically look at the immunological response.

There are also allergies that are non- IgE mediated by antibodies. Our tests are not able to detect there. We use IgE antibodies exclusively for allergies and our tests are not used for the diagnosis of acute or chronic food allergies. To find out more about the science of IgE testing, click here.

What items does this test for?

  • Raised IgE values prove clinically significant in identifying an IgE-Mediated Allergy.
  • Removal of raised IgG4 items may improve lifestyle based on testimonial evidence.
  • CE approved sample collection kit.
  • Results do not constitute a medical diagnosis on their own, but may be used by your doctor or nutritional therapist to help form a diagnosis or rule out a condition.
  • Quantitative data using an ELISA testing methodology. All values measured in Kilounits per antigen per litre (KUA/L), our scale uses a universal cut off point of 0.35 in classifying a reaction.
  • >97% reproducible results. IgG4 values may change over time with diet.

Important

Blood (ELISA) tests define an intolerance/sensitivity as a specific IgG4 antibody reaction and an allergy as a specific IgE antibody reaction (IgE-Mediated).
