What is tested in the Home Vitamin D Health Test:

25-hydroxy Vitamin D is the main storage form of vitamin D in the human body. The current status of vitamin D levels can be determined by detecting the content of 25-hydroxy Vitamin D.

25-hydroxy Vitamin D level less than 30ng/mL indicates Vitamin D Deficiency or Insufficiency.

The test provides results based on Deficient, Insufficient or Excess. Both Deficient and Insufficient results can then be used to request a secondary test or consult further medical advice.

What’s included in the Home Vitamin D Health Test:

1x Test cassette
1x Single-use buffer
1x Sterile lancet
1x Instructions
1x Alcohol pad
1x Capillary dropper
1x Colour card

Note: You will require a method of timing the process.

This test uses a blood test sample, but why?

The at-home collection kit is a 25-hydroxy vitamin D (calcifediol) blood test which is used to determine how much vitamin D is in your body.[1] The blood concentration of calcifediol is considered the best indicator of vitamin D status.[2]

How does this test work?

This test can be used to diagnose vitamin D deficiencies, as well indicating a higher risk for a vitamin D deficiency. These results can be used as supporting evidence for beginning of aggressive therapies in such patients.[3]
Patients with osteoporosis, chronic kidney disease, malabsorption, obesity, and a few other infections may be at high risk and have greater indication from this test.[3] Our lateral flow technology device from Test Your Intolerance provides results based on three categories ‘Deficient, Insufficient or Excess’. Both Deficient and Insufficient results can then be used to consult further medical advice.
