    Description

The Home Prostate Health Test gives you a fast indication of above the normal range levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA).

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is a blood protein secreted by the prostate gland. PSA appears in blood in higher than normal concentrations when the gland is enlarged or cancerous. Monitoring the prostate as a key biomarker is important for men over the age of 50.

Abnormal levels of Prostate Specific Antigen in the blood can be an indicator that further investigation of the prostate is required. This test uses a small sample of blood in a compact testing kit which is mailed directly to you.

    Simple & Easy

The easy-to-use testing kits are mailed immediately on purchase and should reach you within 1-3 business days. In the box, there will be full instructions provided on how to complete the sample in a fast and pain-free manner. Just a few spots of blood are required using a pin-prick lancet within the kit and you will receive results from the lateral flow cassette.

    Perfect for

Monitoring prostate health can provide valuable early warning signs and allow quicker additional diagnostics. Common symptoms include Increased need to urinate, straining while urinating or the feeling of a full bladder.

What is tested in the Home Prostate Health Test

The prostate antigen (PSA) is secreted by the prostate gland, which is situated in the abdomen under the bladder surrounding part of the urethra and plays an important role in semen production.

The prostate antigen level gives information about the prostate physiological condition. Levels above normal may indicate a range of conditions, including benign hypertrophy, prostatitis or cancer.

A PSA level higher than 4μIU/mL indicates a higher than normal level and the possibility of a health issue.

The test provides results based on a Positive/Higher or Negative/Normal basis. Positive results can then be used to request a secondary test or consult further medical advice.

Prostate cancer represents a big problem worldwide since it can cause death in affected men, and treatment options for prostate cancer can be dangerous and really expensive.

Around 15% of men around the world suffer from prostate cancer. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is produced by prostate glandular and endothelial cells.

It is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximatly 34 kDa (1). The PSA level in serum of healthy men is between 0.1 ng/mL and 2.6 ng/mL.

It can be elevated in malignant conditions such as prostate cancer and in benign conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatitis.

A PSA level of 3 to 10ng/ml is considered to be in the “grey-zone”, and levels above 10ng/ml are highly indicative of cancer (1) Patients with PSA values between 3-10ng/ml should undergo further analysis of the prostate by biopsy.

The prostate-specific antigen test is the most valuable tool available for the diagnosis of early prostate cancer. Many studies have confirmed that the presence of PSA is the most useful and meaningful tumour marker known for prostate cancer and prostate infection of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) (2).
